See results without votingNew Overtime Rules for NFL Playoffs 2011
There has always been discussion about the NFL Overtime rule and possible changes. The original OT rule stated that the team that scored first won the game. The opposing team would not receive a opportunity to match the score, but lost the game.
The NFL made a change to the original OT rule for the 2011 NFL Playoffs. Here is a simple explanation of the new rule.
- If 1st team with ball scores TD, it wins.
- If 1st team with ball makes FG, other team gets chance to tie or win.
- If both teams make FG, next team to score wins.
- If defense scores, game is over.

Nice Job!
Good overview.
Michael, thanks for all of the valuable information. A very informative hub. I hope you will continue with your predictions for the next round as well.
The Steelers/Ravens game was good but the Packers/Falcons game was unwatchable after halftime. Hopefully, my team, the Bears will send the Seahawks flying back west. In the Patriots/Jets game, I really like to the Jets win but I think the Pats will take it.
here we go Steelers, here we go!
Great information regarding the playoffs. I would like the Packers to win, but if it ends up being a close game, I think Roethlisberger and the Steelers will end up with the victory.
This is a great hub pal. I can see your love for the sport. That is what it's all about.

Who Dat? Seahawks knock out the Saints in NFL Wild Card Game.
The Seattle Seahawks were not supposed to be in the NFL playoffs. Many said they were undeserving as an NFL team entering the NFL Playoffs with a losing record. The New Orleans Saints were a huge favorite over the Seattle Seahawks.
This is why they play the game on the field! The Seattle Seahawks have knocked the defending Super Bowl Champions out of the playoffs. Matt Hasselbeck threw for 4 TD’s, 3 in the first half. Marshawn Lynch ran for 131 yards, but the biggest play of the game was the 67 yard td run in the 4th quarter that sealed the game.
Drew Brees passed for over 400 yards and threw the ball 60 times. The Saints were one dimensional with no running game. The defense was flat and couldn’t stop the Seahawks.
Final Score: Seattle-41 New Orleans-36
The Green Bay Packers defeated Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles to advance to the NFC Divisional game against the Atlanta Falcons next Saturday night. The Packers defense came up big again as it has all season. Vick was contained for the most part and was intercepted at the end of the game to seal the victory for the Packers.
Aaron Rodgers threw 3 touchdown passes and the Packers found a running game with James Starks rushing for 123 yards. The Green Bay Packers could be a real threat in the NFC playoffs this year.
Final Score: Green Bay Packers-21 Philadelphia Eagles-16
